Why Do We Inspect Your Vehicle Before Providing a Quote?

At Eryx Auto Styling, we insist on a vehicle inspection before providing an accurate quotation because no two vehicles are the same and neither are the results their owners want to achieve. Whether you are looking for detailing, paint correction, ceramic protection, repairs, minor bodywork or vehicle customisation, we offer a bespoke solution specific to your vehicle and make recommendations based on its condition, your expectations and your budget.

An inspection gives us the opportunity to properly understand what we are working with before recommending a treatment. Instead of trying to fit every vehicle into the same package, we can establish what your vehicle actually needs, what you want to achieve and how far you would like to take it.

Every Vehicle Has Different Defects

Two vehicles of the same age, make and model can have completely different requirements. One may have relatively minor imperfections while another could have swirl marks, deeper scratches, oxidation, water spotting, stone chips, evidence of poor previous machine polishing or earlier repairs.

There may also be dents, damaged trim, scuffed alloys, minor bodywork or other areas that require attention. Seeing the vehicle in person allows us to assess these areas properly and determine what can realistically be improved, corrected, repaired or restored before we provide a quotation.

The Desired Result Is Different for Every Client

The condition of the vehicle is only one part of the equation because every owner has a different reason for coming to us. Some clients want to significantly rejuvenate a vehicle they have owned for years, while others have recently purchased a used car and want to address particular defects or protect their investment.

You may simply want to improve the overall appearance of your daily vehicle, prepare a car for sale or bring a much-loved vehicle as close to its best possible condition as you can. During the inspection, we can discuss what bothers you about the vehicle, which areas are most important to you and the overall result you would like us to achieve.

Your Budget Determines How Far We Take the Vehicle

There is rarely only one way to approach a vehicle. The amount of correction, repair, protection or enhancement we recommend will depend on both its condition and how far you want to take the finished result.

Your budget is therefore an important part of the conversation. Rather than assuming every client wants the maximum amount of work possible, we can identify where your budget is best spent and prioritise the areas that will make the greatest difference to the vehicle and the outcome you want.

This is one of the reasons an accurate quotation cannot always be provided from a few photographs or a brief description of the car.

New Doesn’t Always Mean Defect-Free

One of the most common misconceptions we encounter is that a brand-new vehicle should arrive with flawless paintwork. In reality, a new car can already have defects before it reaches its first owner due to transportation, storage, handling and preparation before collection.

We regularly see new and nearly new vehicles with swirl marks, light scratches, water spotting and other paint imperfections. This is why being new doesn’t automatically mean a vehicle is ready for long-term protection without first being properly assessed and prepared.

Ceramic Coatings Require the Right Preparation

Ceramic coatings are frequently sold alongside new vehicles, particularly by dealerships but the quality of the finished result depends heavily on the preparation carried out before the coating is applied. A ceramic coating is designed to protect the surface; it doesn’t correct existing paint defects.

If imperfections or contamination are already present, applying a coating without addressing them first can leave those issues underneath the protection. This is why our approach isn’t simply to sell and apply a coating. We first assess the condition of the paintwork, determine the preparation or correction required and then recommend the appropriate protection for the vehicle.

Our Service Goes Beyond Detailing

Eryx Auto Styling isn’t limited to detailing, which is another important reason our inspection process forms such a central part of how we work. Depending on your requirements, your vehicle may benefit from paint correction and ceramic protection alongside repairs, minor bodywork or customisation.

You may already know exactly what you would like us to address or we may identify additional areas during the inspection that are worth considering. Looking at the vehicle as a whole means we can create one bespoke plan based around your priorities rather than treating every requirement as an unrelated service.

Why We Don’t Believe in One-Size-Fits-All Quotes

Providing a quotation without properly understanding the vehicle can mean recommending work that isn’t necessary or failing to account for something that needs additional attention. Neither approach benefits the client, which is why we prefer to understand the vehicle and the desired result before advising you on the most appropriate way forward.

Ultimately, you aren’t simply choosing a detailing package. You’re deciding how far you want to take your vehicle and our job is to understand where it is now, where you want it to be and the most appropriate route to get it there.
